Le Creuset Casserole Dish: Best Price Le Creuset Dutch Oven
Le Creuset Dutch Oven Review
In this article I will review the Le Creuset Dutch Oven and also talk about where to find deals and bargains when buying one.
Dutch Ovens – My First Experience
When I first moved into my own place, I decided I needed a Dutch Oven. Having taken the decision, I then went out to look for a suitable one – but I was overwhelmed! There were so many manufacturers, so many different items… I really didn’t understand what was going on!
Every manufacturer claimed that their item was best, and of course they would. I had no way of understanding which Dutch Oven really was good. In terms of price, they ranged from $30 to $400 and more!
Getting a Cheap Dutch Oven
I was a struggling student at that time, and I wondered whether I should really spend so much money on a simple piece of cookware. I didn’t see what the big deal was, and obviously I didn’t want to trust what the manufacturers were all trying to say (that their item was the best) so I just went and bought the cheapest Dutch Oven available.
I don’t think that Dutch Oven even had a brand name. I really thought I was doing ok with my Dutch Oven, but then after a number of years I got married, and got a Le Creuset Dutch Oven as a wedding gift. I was unsure what I’d do with two Dutch Ovens, but thankfully I gave it a try.
My New Le Creuset Dutch Oven
I was really impressed! I was shocked at what I had been missing out. Sure, the cheap Dutch Oven got me by, but the Le Creuset was amazing. It’s hard to even compare the quality of the two items, but suffice to say that I was hooked.
The Quality of My New Dutch Oven
My new Dutch Oven was incredibly high quality, it had an exceptional finish and was easy to cook with. The Le Creuset Dutch Oven performs much better when used to cook with. The food cooked in it just tastes so much better. Meats are juicer, the flavors are more intense and everyone really appreciates the food.
It’s actually not surprising that the Le Creuset casserole dish is of such high quality. Le Creuset pans are made in France, and the each piece must comply with rigorous standards.
Each piece of Le Creuset cookware is created from a unique mold, and once the piece is made, the mold is destroyed – so each dish is actually unique!
What You Receive in the Package
In the package, you receive a Le Creuset Dutch Oven base and the matching lid. The Le Creuset casserole dish is made of enameled cast iron, and has a porcelain enamel interior surface. The lids are also made of the same material, and have black phenolic knobs on top. The box also contains an instruction manual.
How much the box will weigh depends on the size you purchase, but the 5 ½ quart one weighs about 11 pounds, while the shipping weight is 12 pounds.
What Size is Best?
Which size Le Creuset casserole dish is best for you, really depends upon your lifestyle: what you plan to cook in it, and how many people you cook for.
I normally cook for only two people, and I use the 5.5. quart Dutch oven. If you regularly cook for four to six people, you’re probably better off with a 7 quart or 9 quart French oven. Again, it obviously depends upon the appetite of the people you’re cooking for!
Is There a Warranty?
The Le Creuset Dutch Oven comes with a lifetime warranty which covers faulty workmanship and materials.
What Kind of Oven Can it be Used On?
The Le Creuset casserole dish can be used on electric, gas, radiant ring, induction, ceramic stove tops and in thermic ovens. It is fridge and freezer save, and can be used inside any oven. It’s very versatile – you can pop it straight from the fridge to the oven!
Is It Dishwasher Safe?
It is dishwasher safe. However, it’s also very easy to wash by hand.
How Much Does it Cost?
The price of a Le Creuset casserole dish varies, from $200 to $350. Price varies based on size and ongoing promotions.
Where Can I Get the Best Deal?
To get the best bargain on a Le Creuset French Oven, I highly recommend checking out Amazon.com. Because they are a large online store, they are able to offer significant discounts over the retail price generally charged by offline stores.
